4 Points to Consider when Hiring a Photo Booth

What are your fees? Am I getting value for money?

It may seem an obvious statement but it’s true when they say ‘you get what you pay for’ and that’s exactly the same with photo booths.  There are now a lot of fly-by-night companies out there offering basic photo booths at costs that undercut established, reliable businesses that offer a far more superior service.   If a company offers you a lower price than others, there is probably a significant reason for this – Remember this is your wedding or event and you want it to be perfect, memorable and a day that people will talk about for months to come – so pick a supplier that you have done your research on!

We receive a lot of inquires every day and sometimes customers let us know that they’ve found a lower price, however they later find out that price they were quoted didn’t include other ‘add ons’ some companies charge.  Such as delivery, setup/take down, guest book, digital copies of photos, attendants etc…  That’s why we believe in simple price plans that include everything you could want for one price and we will never surprise you with any extra fees. All of our packages include a show stopping musical, talking photo booth, set up and take down, travel to and from your venue (within 1 hour of our head office), two attendants, guestbook, unlimited use, 3.5 hours hire, hilarious props, games to get your guests in the party mood, your name up in lights, customised post card prints, (not passport strips), a picture disc, key ring service and an online gallery!

Do you have public liability insurance and is your equipment PAT tested?

It never hurts to be too prepared and let’s face it…  Nothing is going to happen, but the reality is, most wedding venues require that outside services have liability insurance in place.  This question will also separate the fly-by-night companies from the serious ones. Those who just run a photo booth business on the side will not be willing to pay the costs of having insurance.  This is our only business, we live and breathe photo booths and are fully insured.

Portable appliance testing (PAT) is the term used to describe the examination of electrical appliances and equipment to ensure they are safe to use. Most electrical safety defects can be found by visual examination but some types of defect can only be found by testing.  Although it is not currently a legal requirement, most venues will ask your external suppliers for this also.

What is the quality of the photo booth?

This is your wedding or event, it’s one of the most important days of your life, and everything needs to be perfect.  The last thing you want is a beautiful reception area, with an ugly, makeshift photo booth in the corner.  We have seen some interesting photo booths out there.   We put in a lot of time and research when buying and designing our photo booths and they really are of the highest quality. Our booths are elegant, classy and professionally constructed and we travel all over the country attending weddings and events in some of the finest venues.

What is the quality of the photos?

Being professional photographers with lots of studio experience it is of upmost importance to us that at each event our photos look the best they can.  All of our photo booths use Canon DSLR cameras with studio lighting to ensure each photo is sharp, bright and free of shadows, red eye or glare that can be caused by using cameras with flash.  It may seem simple, but there is actually a lot that goes into capturing a high-quality photo in a photo booth.  Ask the company to see examples of past photos. Do they appear dark, blurry, dull, lacking in colour?
